Do you care about the change in the 3℃ water temperature in the espresso machine? If so, you should also watch the temperature change of ground coffee. The relationship between the temperature of coffee powder and coffee quality is often overlooked.
Does your grinder heat the coffee?
There are many different types of bean grinder available. However, whether it's round or flat, ceramic or metal, when the grinder starts, the burrs starts to spin, grinding the beans into tiny particles, but the process involves friction, and friction generates heat. This heat is then transferred to the rest of the grinder, which of course affects the coffee itself. Therefore, unless you are using very professional equipment, the temperature of the grinding bin will change according to the different working hours.
It requires a larger cooling system, and there are many excellent bean mills on the market that can control the temperature of the burr and bin well, but it will be more expensive, and there will also be more energy consumption.
Any grinder produces heat during the grinding process, and the heating of the coffee powder will accelerate the oxidation process and aroma volatilization, resulting in the weakening of the coffee flavor after cooking. The heat value of the burr depends on the size of the grinding burr, the material , the structure, the fineness of the grinding, the hardness and texture of the coffee beans and so on. High motor speed produces higher grinding capacity but higher heat, while low speed produces lower grinding capacity but less heat.
